2009 GLK Spotted In Production
We have heard talk of the new Mercedes 2009 GLK and for the longest time we were told that the first time we would catch a glimpse of it was during the new ‘Sex and the City’ movie and during the 2008 Detroit Auto Show. However, it seems that the usual spy photographers were ready to start shooting the much expected vehicle after it was brought out for an early screen shot.
Caught filming in Beverly Hills this weekend, the smallest SUV ever to come from Mercedes shed its camouflage to reveal styling details and confirm some basic specifications. Built on the same chassis as the compact C-Class sedan, the GLK shows a wheelbase and overall length similar to the C-Class. This should put the GLK right in line with other entry-level luxury sport-utilities like the BMW X3 and Land Rover LR2.
The GLK is expected to use a 270-horsepower 3.5-liter Mercedes V6 along with standard all-wheel drive and Mercedes’ seven-speed automatic transmission, but the low-profile tires with oversize wheels indicate the GLK won’t be tackling any mountainous terrain. Full specifications will be available after the 2009 GLK is unveiled during the Detroit Auto Show.
